SUPREME BEAUTY TIP OF THE WEEK: 5 TOTAL SUMMER SKIN CARE

5 Total Summer Skin Saviors We Couldn’t Live Without

Let’s be clear: There’s not much about summer that we can complain about, aside from frizzy hair, breakouts, and sweat… but we digress. Rather than dwell on the season’s potential negative effects on our skin, we’d rather milk it for all its worth. That’s where these five summer skin care saviors come in. Not only will they address a number of common summer skin issues, but they’ll also hide a multitude of sins, for those skin issues we kind of brought upon ourselves.

Bioelements Quick Refiner for Eyes ($39, bioelements.com)
Don’t tell our dermatologists, but we’ve been known to skip under eye cream much of the time: They’re often greasy, irritating to our actual eyeballs, and rarely do we see any tightening or brightening results worthy of repeated application. So long as we’re using the Quick Refiner for eyes, however, hopefully we won’t need eye cream. Safe for even the most sensitive skin, this gentle peel instantly eliminates signs of sleepiness and fatigue, lessening the appearance of fine lines, dryness, and darkness in one fell swoop.

Philosophy The Present Clear Makeup ($30, philosophy.com)
We wouldn’t even think about applying our makeup without using a primer to lay the foundation, but let’s be honest—they’re kind of a dime a dozen, and there isn’t one of note that’s unique enough to be particularly bound to. The effect of The Present is definitely unique and a little bit hard to describe, but believe us when we say that it’s the fastest route to perfect skin. It goes on feeling slightly slick, but allowed to set for 3-4 minutes, it creates a flawless canvas that smooths fine lines, shrinks pores, and truly gives an “airbrushed” look. It even incorporates antibacterial ingredients for the acne-prone—a score if ever a score existed.

Peter Thomas Roth Camu Camu Power C x 30 Vitamin C Brightening Sleeping Mask ($62, sephora.com)
There is nothing—and we mean nothing—we’ve ever tried that hits all the right notes quite like this nighttime treatment. Brightening, moisturizing, wrinkle-reducing, acne-fighting, you name it, this product does it. Smoothed on at bedtime after your regular serum and moisturizer, you’ll experience magical “is that my skin?” properties come morning. It’s recommended for use two to three times per week, but hey, you can never have too much of a good thing… even if it makes our pillows a little bit sticky.

Liz Earle Gentle Face Exfoliator ($24, lizearle.com)
Here’s the thing about “gentle” exfoliators: Sometimes they’re so gentle, they just don’t work. That clearly isn’t the case for this smoothing scrub, which contains round jojoba beads to delicately slough away dead skin cells and flakiness. It combines cooling, deep-cleansing eucalyptus oil for purification with cocoa butter, beeswax, and sweet almond oil, which work to leave behind a soft finish that feels well-moisturized. It’s the perfect way to give your skin a little something extra if it’s looking (and feeling) congested from sweat and humidity.

Éminence Tropical Vanilla Day Cream SPF 32 ($55.60, fragrancenet.com)
We know full well how important it is to use sunscreen on our faces, but we’re also pretty well-acquainted with how oily and potentially pore-clogging many SPF formulas can be. Needless to say, we’re picky about which sunscreens we’ll put on our faces, and we’re especially wary of those that claim to function as a moisturizer, too. Against our better judgement, we’ve fallen head over heels for this deeply moisturizing sun cream, which functions as both a sunscreen and moisturizer perfect for all skin types. It sinks into the skin with a velvety finish rather than sitting on top, and it keeps both sunburn and the greasies at bay all day long. Magic? Could be.
