SUPREME BEAUTY OF THE WEEK:
Scrub Recipes to Rejuvenate Post-Summer
Skin
No matter how much SPF you applied this summer, your skin is
usually in need of some TLC come Fall. While we’d first recommend a luxurious
body scrub treatment (they not only polish the skin, but they’re just as
relaxing as a facial), we understand a trip to the spa isn’t necessarily in
everyone’s budget.
So for those who can’t
hit the spa, we’ve compiled a list of four super-easy DIY scrub recipes you can
make at home. With a pestle (or plastic spatula) and a few kitchen staples,
your skin will be revived to its pre-beach bum state, and you’ll get some relaxation time in, too. Quick tip:
Store leftover product in a mason jar for future use! Most scrubs can have a
shelf life of a month or more.
Cool Mint Sugar Scrub
“Sugar scrubs are a great way to revitalize summer skin that has seen too much sun,” says Jennifer Lugo, the founder of Verefina, who offers this cooling scrub recipe. “The sugar manually exfoliates and is a natural source of alpha hydroxy acids, which dissolve the ‘glue’ that holds dead skin cells together and makes them easier to remove.”

Coconut Lavender Scrub
Kristen Bocanegra of Mommemeals.com formulated this scrub for pregnant moms, but the recipe rejuvenates any dry or sun-damaged skin. The chef has also dubbed the formula as “Project: No Stretch Marks.” We can get down with that.

Coconut Coffee Scrub
For sensitive skin, coffee grinds work as a great exfoliant. “The rich blend of antioxidant-filled coffee and moisture-locking coconut oil, combined with the refreshing scent of vanilla extract, is a perfect combination of natural ingredients to remove and repair rough skin,” says Carolyn Doe, the spa director at The Umstead Hotel and Spa in Cary, N.C.
